Sign in to your ScreenRant account Shudder subscribers are on the streaming service to be when it comes to this Halloween, as there are both classic horror movies available on the streamer, as well as recent Shudder Exclusive films for those looking for intriguing and fresh concepts. On last weekend's Shudder movie recommendations, I talked about Twilight Zone: The Movie, the Deborah Ann Woll original The Cycle, and Insidious. The Cycle had just debuted on Shudder last Friday, when I shared those horror recommendations, and the Shudder original horror movie has since gone on to become a massive hit for the streamer. At the time of writing, Woll's The Cycle stands as the most popular movie on Shudder, according to data from FlixPatrol. As such, the Daredevil franchise star's new horror movie remains a must-watch this Halloween weekend. That said, there are plenty of other horror movies that Shudder subscribers should be checking out on the holiday weekend, which is the biggest of the year for the streaming service. This time around, I chose two new Exclusives that Shudder itself deemed perfect for Halloween, given their release dates, and a horror classic that started a major genre franchise. These are the best horror movies to watch on Shudder this Halloween weekend: 3 The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) Starting us off is the only movie on the list that is not a Shudder Exclusive, with 1974's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre being one of the most iconic horror movies of all time. This is the film that birthed the horror villain Leatherface, who uses a chainsaw to commit gruesome murders. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is responsible for originating some of the slasher genre's biggest tropes. Among those is the concept of the final girl, with Leatherface's hulking figure, mysterious persona, and iconic mask paving the way for characters like Jason Vorhees, from the Friday the 13th franchise, and Michael Myers, from the Halloween movies. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is an intense, scary, and violent R-rated horror movie for Shudder subscribers to enjoy over Halloween weekend. 2 Big Baby (2025) Big Baby is the first of the two Shudder Exclusive movies in our weekend recommendations. The horror movie follows horror screenwriter Adam Lewis as he gets nightmares about a killer that wears a baby mask. Lewis uses the nightmares as fuel for his next script. However, when he starts to see the Big Baby killer in real life, Adam questions his sanity. From there on, Big Baby shows itself as a creative take on writer's block with a slasher twist. Having been released on Shudder on Friday, October 30, the horror movie stands as an exciting entry on the streamer this Halloween weekend. As the line between fiction and reality gets blurred, viewers will be left questioning whether Big Baby is real, if Adam himself is the killer, or if the writer is losing his mind. This one is a wild ride. 1 Hunting Matthew Nichols (2026) The last movie on our Shudder recommendations for Halloween weekend is a Shudder Exclusive, with Hunting Matthew Nichols having arrived exactly on Halloween, this Saturday, October 31. Hunting Matthew Nichols focuses on documentary filmmaker Tara Nichols, who is looking for answers to her brother's disappearance two decades after Matthew vanished on Vancouver Island. This R-rated thriller starts to get darker when Tara finds a piece of evidence that suggests her brother might still be alive all these years later. With a stellar 89% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, Hunting Matthew Nichols is a sound option for those wanting an eerie movie that plays more with intrigue and suspense on Shudder than full-on horror this Halloween, making it a fine entry to end our new Shudder movie recommendations.
