The subgenre Romantasy is a popular one for a reason, expertly blending otherworldly fantasy with heart-pounding romance. Over the past few years, we have seen an increase in massive romantasy series that top the book charts and help us to escape reality in the best ways possible. And making it all even better is the knowledge that many of the biggest and best are free to read with a Kindle Unlimited subscription. Of course, right now the big news in the world of romantasy is the title and cover reveals for ACOTAR books 6 and 7. Whether you're an ACOTAR fan waiting for those books to be released, or simply someone who's looking for their next exciting read, if you have Kindle Unlimited, you may have more worlds at your fingertips than you know, and all at no additional cost to you. Blood Of Hercules By Jasmine Mas There are a surprising number of bestselling books available on Kindle Unlimited. This includes the dark fantasy romance Blood of Hercules that blends a gender-swapped Greek mythology retelling with dystopian academy training. After the orphan Alexis discovers, along with everyone else, that she has the blood of a god, she is forced to participate in the deadly Spartan War Academy. There's a lot more going on than just surviving some tests, however. With a lot of dark romance twists and villains you love as much as you hate, it's a story full of surprises with one incredibly strong heroine at the center of it all. This is a series that it seems like people either passionately love or strongly hate, with little in between. The series currently has two books released, with a third coming in the summer of 2027. Both the first two, Blood of Hercules and Bonds of Hercules, are available to read for free on Kindle Unlimited. The Wolf King By Lauren Palphreyman The Wolf King is a fantasy romance set in a world of humans and werewolves, as a war rages between them. When the human Princess Aurora rescues a young wolf from her evil fiancé's dog fight arena, she finds herself under the scrutiny of the wolf alpha. That night, when the alpha and other werewolves are escaping the castle, he takes Aurora (Rory) with him, thinking that she can be used as a bargaining chip to end the war for good. Of course, as you can probably guess, Rory and alpha Callum begin to develop feelings for one another as deceptions and mysteries arise from every corner. Then, when you add the most feared wolf in the Kingdom, Blake, to the mix, things become even more complicated. Dire Bound By Sable Sorensen The Wolves of Ruin trilogy only offers the first book, Dire Bound, on KU at this time, and the conclusion to the trilogy won't be released until July 2027. However, this spicy romantasy is still worth checking out. Described as Fourth Wing meets The Hunger Games, it's a slow burn that has an incredibly immersive plot, despite having a fairly predictable storyline. Main character Meryn is desperate to find her kidnapped sister Saela. So desperate that she signs up to join the army and is forced into the Bonding Trials. The competition is deadly, and she's bound to a feral direwolf who won't communicate, but her instructor, Stark, may have secrets of his own. Powerless By Lauren Roberts The Powerless trilogy (which actually features five books total if you count the novellas) is a YA romantasy series, which means that it has much less spice than several others in this list. However, it makes up for that by offering a deep story of forbidden romance. The first book, Powerless, sets the stage as Paedyn Gray is forced to participate in the Purging Trials. Unfortunately for Paedyn, the Purging Trials are designed as a way for the Elites of the city to show off their magical powers, which Paedyn doesn't have. In a world where not having powers is a death sentence, she poses as a Psychic to try to survive, all while the annoying prince is falling for her. All three of the main novels in the Powerless trilogy are available on Kindle Unlimited, although the two additional stories that look at some of the side characters are not included in the subscription service. A Shadow In The Ember By Jennifer L. Armentrout A Shadow in the Ember is the first of four books in the Flesh and Fire series, all of which are available for you to enjoy on Kindle Unlimited. If you like books with deep worldbuilding, this one is for you. The series is actually a prequel to the From Blood and Ash series, taking place thousands of years earlier. Unfortunately, the From Blood and Ash books are not on KU, but this series can still be enjoyed on its own. A Shadow in the Ember tells the story of a maiden, Sera, who was chosen before birth to offer herself up to the Primal of Death as his Consort, but secretly, she is a trained assassin. With a plan to get close to him, make him fall in love, and then end him, there's obviously nothing that could go wrong. The Knight And The Moth By Rachel Gillig Although The Knight and the Moth will be a trilogy, currently this is the only book that has been released. The Gothic romantasy follows the story of a young Diviner, Sybil, who receives visions from the six Omens. These visions allow her to predict terrible things that are going to happen, but then her fellow Diviner sisters begin to vanish. In order to figure out what's happened to her sisters, Sybil must enlist the help of the rude and mysterious (and handsome, of course) knight Rodrick, who doesn't care about her visions at all. Kissed By The Gods By Caty Rogan The first book in The Eternal Wars series (and the only one that has been released so far), Kissed by the Gods is a spicy romantasy that will draw you in. We follow Leina, a peasant girl who has already suffered considerably throughout her life. So, when the unfortunate King's soldiers come to take away her brother, she erupts in divine fury. Naturally, one would expect her to be executed for that, but instead she is taken to a military fortress where the gods-blessed warrior Ryot pushes her to master her powers. Quicksilver By Callie Hart Quicksilver quickly topped charts, including becoming a New York Times bestseller, and even becoming a feature film in development with Netflix. The enemies-to-lovers romantasy tells the story of a human thief, Saeris, who accidentally triggers a magical portal to the cold fae realm of Yvelia. She's the first human in Yvelia in over a thousand years, and she's in over her head. Mistakenly binding herself to the Fae warrior, Kingfisher, she finds herself in perhaps an even worse situation. He will do whatever it takes to protect his people, even putting her at risk. The worldbuilding is incredible, the spice is hot, and the plot will make you eager for more. Shield Of Sparrows By Devney Perry Anyone who appreciates strong characters will love Shield of Sparrows. The main female character, Princess Odessa (the backup princess of the kingdom), is sent to be a spy in a monster-infested realm when she is chosen to marry the prince of Turah. Forced into the dangerous journey, she defies the roles that are forced upon her. This is a story that is so rich and complex that it's hard to summarize it all into a short paragraph. It's full of slow burn romance, dangerous monsters who actually have their own incredible backstory, and plot twists so good your jaw will be on the floor. Fourth Wing By Rebecca Yarros Frankly, it's surprising that a series as popular as Fourth Wing is available for free with Kindle Unlimited, but it is. All three of the books that are currently out are on the subscription service, giving you little excuse to not try it and see what makes it so talked about. Forced to survive the brutal trials of the Riders Quadrant at Basgiath War College, young Violet doesn't look like she has a chance. She's smaller than everyone and her body is fragile. Plus, many of her peers, including Xaden, would kill her just for being her mother's daughter. With a world full of deadly political secrets, this dragon-filled romantasy is truly one of the most impressive Romantasy worlds you can visit on Kindle Unlimited right now. Kindle Unlimited
