Zelensky Asks Trump to Act on Lindsey Graham's Sanctions After Another Deadly Russian Attack

President Volodymyr Zelensky have called on US President Donald Trump to exercise his power and impose new sanctions on Russia using the newly passed act after another night of deadly Russian attacks.The bill, named in honor of late US lamwaker Lindsey Graham, was signed into law by Trump on Sept. 18, giving him the power to impose a 100 percent tariffs to nations buying Russian oil.JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official.Graham had been an ardent supporter of Ukraine, whose last days included a trip to a secret drone factory in Ukraine. His original bill envisioned a 500 percent tariff before it was whittled down to 100 percent.Zelensky asked Trump to make use of the power “against Russia and everyone who props up its war financially” after outlining the damage dealt by a new wave of Russian attack overnight.“Fourteen people were injured in Russian attacks last night alone. There were numerous strikes on residential homes in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and the Odesa, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions. Sadly, two people were killed in Zaporizhzhia,” Zelensky wrote in an X update.Kyiv and regional authorities also reported damage to a school and private houses overnight.According to a recent think tank report, China remained the top buyer of Russian oil in August, followed by India, then Turkey.Trump hosted Chinese leader Xi Jinping this week and said he would discuss the tariffs with Xi, though the outcome remains uncertain as of Saturday.
