Zelda: Skyward Sword Officially Returns In Limited-Time DLC Event

It really does feel like The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is one of the most underrated games in the series to date, with games like Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and The Wind Waker more often getting all the attention. At its core, Skyward Sword is just a really fun game to play, with great dungeons and combat, even if it does suffer from the occasional bloat. As such, the lack of references it gets in the wider medium really does feel undeserved, and its long overdue another moment in the sun, whatever form that may end up coming in. Now, the game is seemingly playing a role in the DLC for an entirely different franchise, and it could be one of the most random places it has appeared in to date. As first reported by Go Nintendo, Tetris 99 has just started a limited-time event that lets you unlock up to 41 collaboration themes from other major games and franchises on the platform, at a heavily discounted price. As part of that, Skyward Sword is set to feature, with one of the best looking themes of the bunch. From July 24 to August 17, 2026, Nintendo Switch Online members can exchange just 2 in-game tickets for collaboration themes that would normally set you back 30 tickets, or that were previously earned through participating in Tetris 99 events. Alongside that, 22 additional themes have been added into the ticket exchange for the first time, with an extensive list including Donkey Kong Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Splatoon 3, Pikmin 4, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder. As mentioned, after August 17, the themes will return to their normal prices, where one will cost the equivalent of 15 while the event is on. It therefore makes a lot of sense to get involved before then, if you plan to at all, or your virtual currency will be worth a lot less than it is now. Nintendo Outside of that, it's going to be an absolutely massive year for The Legend of Zelda as a whole. The Ocarina of Time remake is going to draw all of the headlines for the foreseeable future, but there's also the ongoing movie adaptation, that seems to be going quite well right now. There are also a bunch of rumors circulating about potential returns for Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, though we're yet to get any official confirmation on that front.
