A gaming giant face off (Nintendo) A set of amiibo may have revealed the release date for The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time remake, and it’s within the splash zone of GTA 6. Nintendo has confirmed The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time remake is coming out this year, but it’s said almost nothing else about it, including the exact release date. At the moment, Nintendo doesn’t have any games slated for November or December. Before that, it has Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave on September 17 and Nintendo Switch Sports: Resort on October 22. Recently, Nintendo has had a habit of dropping one first party title every month, so if Zelda is coming this year, logic dictates it will arrive in either November or December – and probably the former. If a new amiibo listing is anything to go by, the release date is Thursday, November 12. As outlined on Reddit, Nintendo UK listings recently popped up for the Sword Kirby & Dragoon and Noir Dedede & Hydra amiibo, with a release date of November 11th or 12th depending on your system clock. In the UK, it’s listed as November 12th (a Thursday). You might be wondering what a set of Kirby amiibo has to do with Zelda’s release date, but there is a track record of unrelated amiibo coinciding with a game’s launch – likely as a result of shipping logistics. The Meta Knight and Shadow Star figures, for example, launched on March 5 this year, the same day as Pokémon Pokopia. Similarly, the King Dedede & Tank Star amiibo launched the same day as Rhythm Paradise Groove on July 2, while the upcoming Mineru’s Construct amiibo arrives September 17 – the same day as Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave. We still know barely anything about the remake (Nintendo) It’s not foolproof; there’s a chance these amiibo could randomly launch in November. But, considering the Kirby listings have now both been pulled from the Nintendo UK website, after attracting attention, there’s certainly good reason to be suspicious. If the Zelda remake does launch on November 12, this would put it one week ahead of GTA 6 on November 19. If any title could go up against Rockstar’s sequel, it would be a remake of one of the best games of all time, but it’s still a daring move if it does happen. Then again, Zelda does cater to a different audience compared to GTA 6, and with Rockstar’s sequel not being on the Switch 2, Nintendo needs a big showstopper to attract people to its console for Christmas. For now, we’ll have to wait and see if Nintendo does fancy creating the Barbenheimer for video games (ZeldTA?) in November. In the past, the company has traditionally held a Direct presentation in September, which might be when we get confirmation. Although they’ve also got to announce a date for The Duskbloods, which is the other potential game the amiibo release date could be hinting at – although that’s a much riskier thing to put up against GTA 6.
