Nintendo is finally kicking off the series' 40th anniversary with a brand-new Zelda-themed Nintendo Direct next week. During the event, we're guaranteed a deeper look at the Ocarina of Time remake, and I'd bet all my Link Amiibo that the first trailer for the live-action movie will be shown too. Beyond that, I'm sure we can expect a few more surprises. Even before Nintendo showers us with more Zelda goodness, there are tons of official 40th anniversary releases coming out in the next few months. This month, for instance, we're getting a brand-new Tears of the Kingdom Amiibo and a Breath of the Wild vinyl. Then, in October, a special new book about the lore and development of Tears of the Kingdom will release. Then, finally, December will see the release of a gorgeous new premium collector's item — one that comes with a premium price tag to match. Scheduled to arrive on December 2026, First 4 Figures is releasing an official life-size replica of the Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. While the legendary blade has appeared in most Zelda games over the years, it's notable in the most recent game for having been nearly completely destroyed by Ganondorf, causing it to decay. It's in this decayed state that the statue is based on, and it's absolutely gorgeous. You know, in as much as something that's decaying can be described as gorgeous. "The statue draws inspiration from the scene where the Master Sword is shattered by the Gloom released during Ganondorf’s resurrection beneath Hyrule Castle," reads the official product description. "This life-size statue depicts the Decayed Master Sword standing upright, with the dark energy of the Gloom spreading upward from the resin base and enveloping the corroded sections of the blade. The handle is crafted from metal, the blade is made of durable ABS, and the sword can be detached from the base." You're looking at $623.99 for this bad boy. I probably don't need to tell you that you could go out and buy yourself a Nintendo Switch 2 for that amount of money and probably pick up the inevitable 40th anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 model for a similar price.
