Yuvraj has spent recent years mentoring several established and emerging Indian cricketers, and Delhi will hope his experience and understanding of batting can strengthen their coaching setup.Yuvraj also shares a history with the Delhi franchise. In 2015, the team, then known as Delhi Daredevils, secured his services for a record Rs 16 crore, making him the most expensive player in IPL history at the time. He went on to represent the franchise in all 14 matches that season.Speaking about his appointment, Yuvraj said he was looking forward to beginning a new chapter with the Capitals, highlighting his longstanding association with the franchise and its owners. "I am excited to begin a new chapter in my life with the Delhi Capitals. I have an old association with the franchise and know the owners well, which makes this a special opportunity for me," Yuvraj said.A champion. A leader. . The legend who inspired generations is ready to shape Dilli's legacy. Welcome home, Yuvi paa! https://t.co/i7A77rv2tJ— Delhi Capitals (@DelhiCapitals) October 13, 2026"I'm also looking forward to teaming up with Dada, this time as coaches. Coaching is something I am truly passionate about, and I cannot wait to get started with this extremely talented squad. I'm sure it's going to be an exciting journey for me, and I look forward to contributing to the team's success," he added. Yuvraj played 132 IPL matches during his career, scoring 2,750 runs and taking 36 wickets.YUVRAJ’S EXPERIENCE MENTORING INDIA STARSAlthough the Delhi Capitals appointment marks Yuvraj's first formal coaching role, he has already spent considerable time working with young Indian batters. Among those he has mentored are Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, both of whom have become established members of the Indian team. His association with Abhishek has drawn particular attention as the left-hander has developed into one of India's most explosive T20 batters. Yuvraj has also shared his experience with other emerging players, helping them navigate the demands of professional cricket and refine their approach at the crease. His own career offers a wealth of experience to draw upon. Yuvraj was a key figure in India's victories at the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011, delivering crucial performances on the biggest stages. Delhi will hope that his experience of handling pressure, combined with his work mentoring younger players, translates into a positive influence within the dressing room.DELHI CAPITALS STRENGTHEN COACHING SETUPYuvraj's appointment is another significant addition to Delhi Capitals' coaching structure since Sourav Ganguly took over as head coach. The reunion of two former India teammates brings together extensive international experience as the franchise prepares for the next IPL campaign.Delhi have yet to win an IPL title despite reaching the final in 2020. Strengthening the coaching group will be an important part of their efforts to close that gap, with Yuvraj expected to work alongside Ganguly and the rest of the support staff. The former all-rounder's transition from mentoring individual players to a formal franchise role gives Delhi another experienced voice in their batting setup. With his record as a match-winner and his familiarity with the development of young Indian talent, the Capitals will hope the appointment helps them build a more consistent challenge for the title.- Ends
