Yup, Erling Haaland Paired His Designer Bag With a Taxidermy Raccoon

Skip to main contentThe Norwegian forward is finally home after his viral World Cup—and he brought a friend!JAN LANGHAUG/Getty ImagesSometimes, when my wits have deserted me, I like to imagine how Erling Haaland picks his outfits. The guy’s got good taste, we know this. Maybe it starts with the base: a team tracksuit. Classic, expected, comfortable for flying. Then let’s add some kicks—the Fragment Design x Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low will do. A little Man City blue. Oh, and for accessories? How about some sunnies, a Dolce & Gabbana tote, and let’s see... Yeah! My taxidermied raccoon, drinking from a whiskey bottle.I imagine it goes a little like that. Happy to be proven wrong!JAN LANGHAUG/Getty ImagesHaaland landed back into Oslo this morning, fresh off Norway’s defeat to England, and he had all of those things on. Now, people will want to spend all the airtime talking about his raccoon. I get it: he’s a star! Specifically, he is the “Whiskey Raccoon” from Wild Bill’s, a store in Texas that Haaland presumably hit up while he was in town slotting a beauty against the Ivory Coast in the 86th minute. The same style will set you back $750.It’s not often a Dolce & Gabbana bag plays second fiddle. But in this case, I’m sure they won’t mind. The unsung hero of his fit is the tote bag, which serves as a roomy and surprisingly complementary accessory to his new mate. The bag isn't available for purchase because it's fresh off the runway. The ecru canvas and burgundy alligator tote debuted in the Italian brand’s spring-summer 2027 show, which went down in Milan last month. On the runway, the brand styled it with a knit polo, burgundy pinstripe trousers, and a matching blazer in the hand. Haaland’s styling was slightly more… what’s the word? Furry?Vogue RunwayAll jokes aside, the 25-year-old has proved he has formidable taste in bags. His Hermès collection—which features a few bands worth of Birkins and Kellys—is well documented. But the man isn't locked into one brand. He has rare Louis Vuitton keepalls and crossbodies, a Chanel quilted briefcase. He loves a Goyard for traveling, and is often seen wheeling his Satolas GM suitcase around airports. So what if his newest accessory is a little more niche? A little more Texan? Slightly more roadkill? I’ve done worse in the souvenir shop coming out of a gnarly weekend, I’ll tell you that for free. And I know for a fact Dolce & Gabbana wouldn’t want to be in that picture. This story originally appeared on British GQ.Sign up for Show Notes to get news on the latest runway shows, parties, and insider events on the international fashion circuit.
