Yu-Gi-Oh GX Tag Force Remake Is Official, But There's A Catch

Yu-Gi-Oh is a franchise with some certified bangers in its video game library, but many of these games are quite dated, hard to get a hold of, or on dead platforms. All three apply to Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force 3, a PSP title from 2008, but Konami is bringing it back with the full remake treatment, and it'll be available early next year. Announced during the September Switch Direct, which was packed with some incredible announcements, this one may have flown under the radar for many, but OG Yu-Gi-Oh players are absolutely overjoyed that this game is getting some love and coming back to modern consoles. Well, one of them at least. Yu-Gi-Oh GX Tag Force Revealed, Coming February 2027 While the naming convention is a little strange, the trailer for Yu-Gi-Oh GX Tag Force makes it very clear that this is a remake of Tag Force 3. This game will rework the summoning scenes, recreating them to do them justice with the design tools available to developers in 2026. Among the features of GX Tag Force are over 3,800 cards (up from 3,501 in the original), ten of which are "fan-favorite cards beyond those featured in the original game." The game is also fully voiced, with over 100 characters to partner with, and they've all been given visual upgrades. Perhaps most importantly, online multiplayer has been added to the game, letting you duel it out with players around the world; this includes public and private matchmaking. For those of you who are new to Yu-Gi-Oh video games, or just want a less intense experience, a new casual difficulty mode has also been added to help keep the game accessible. The only potential downside to this reveal is that it's only coming to Nintendo Switch 2, the OG Switch, and Steam, meaning no version for PlayStation and Xbox gamers. Given the popularity of Master Duel and its presence on those platforms, some may be disappointed to see this remake skip them for now, but a future release is always a possibility.
