Abdul Nazeer, the YSRCP MP alleged widespread violence, intimidation of opposition candidates, destruction of nomination papers, police interference and obstruction of candidates seeking to file nominations.I have lodged a complaint with the Hon'ble President of India and andhrapradesh Governor seeking an independent, impartial inquiry into serious electoral irregularities during Andhra Pradesh's local body elections, including violence, obstruction of nominations, attacks on opposition candidates, destruction of nomination papers and alleged partisan policing. The reported obstruction of 1,345 MPTC–ZPTC candidates and zero nominations across 222 wards in seven municipalities raise grave concerns about the fairness of the electoral process. I have sought scrutiny of the State Election Commission's handling of complaints, compliance with Supreme Court directions, preservation of evidence, adequate election security and accountability for established lapses. Democracy needs free and fair elections, equal opportunity for every candidate and accountability for those who undermine the electoral process. #SaveDemocracyInAP @rashtrapatibhvn @LiveLawIndia @governorap @editorsguildind @thewire_in @ndtv @IndiaToday @TimesAlgebraIND @timesofindia @TimesNow @ANI @BBCIndia @firstpost @CNNnews18 @BBCBreaking @ABPNews @News18India @ThePrintIndia @the_hindu @IndianExpress @DeccanChronicle @PTI_News @WIONews @sardesairajdeep @umasudhir @rohini_sgh @ravishndtv @BDUTT @sagarikaghose @rahulkanwal @ShekharGupta @thenewsminute @republic @TheSouthfirst @htTweets @JagranNews @scroll_in @ZeeNews @EconomicTimes @NewIndianXpress @tv9 @NtvTeluguLive @sakshitvdigital @10TvTeluguNews @bigtvtelugu @PressCouncil_IN @PCITweets— Maddila Gurumoorthy (@GuruMYSRCP) October 26, 2026Mr. Gurumoorthy cited incidents reported from Punganur, Pulivendula, Kadapa, Proddatur, Mydukur, Badvel, Rayachoti, Tirupati and other places. He also referred to the alleged attack on Rajampet MP P.V. Midhun Reddy, the burning of vehicles, house arrests of opposition leaders and obstruction of candidates during the nomination process.Mr. Gurumoorthy argued that the SEC had failed to respond adequately despite Supreme Court directions to examine complaints and provide protection to candidates. He questioned why extensions for filing nominations were granted in only four urban local bodies and not in other municipalities where similar allegations had emerged.Citing the figures in his representation, the MP said that 222 wards across seven municipalities had no YSRCP nominations because candidates were allegedly prevented from filing their papers. He also referred to complaints that 1,345 MPTC and ZPTC candidates faced obstruction during the nomination process.Seeking accountability, Mr. Gurumoorthy called for an independent examination of the SEC’s handling of complaints, deployment of police personnel, nomination-related irregularities and compliance with Supreme Court directions.Democracy cannot be held hostage by intimidation, electoral violence or partisan policing. I have lodged complaints with the Hon'ble President of India, Chief Justice of India, Governor of Andhra Pradesh, State Election Commission and other authorities, seeking an impartial inquiry into alleged electoral violence and obstruction of nominations in AP. The complaints seek scrutiny of DIG Dr. Koya Praveen, IPS, over alleged derogatory and provocative remarks against MP P. V. Mithun Reddy, and of the conduct of Dheeraj Kanubilli, IPS, SP, Annamayya, and Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath, IPS, SP, Kadapa, over alleged failures to prevent intimidation, ensure adequate security and respond effectively to electoral violence. I have sought evidence preservation, an independent inquiry and removal from election duties wherever warranted by the findings. Every candidate deserves equal protection. Every election must be free, fair and fearless. No officer is above accountability. #SaveDemocracyInAP @PMOIndia @rashtrapatibhvn @LiveLawIndia @governorap @DoPTGoI @ndtv @IndiaToday @TimesAlgebraIND @timesofindia @TimesNow @ANI @BBCIndia @firstpost @CNNnews18 @BBCBreaking @ABPNews @News18India @ThePrintIndia @the_hindu @IndianExpress @DeccanChronicle @PTI_News @WIONews @sardesairajdeep @umasudhir @rohini_sgh @ravishndtv @BDUTT @sagarikaghose @rahulkanwal @ShekharGupta @thenewsminute @republic @TheSouthfirst @htTweets @JagranNews @scroll_in @ZeeNews @EconomicTimes @NewIndianXpress @TV9Telugu @NtvTeluguLive #SaveDemocracyInAP #FreeAndFairElections #RuleOfLaw #Democracy #AndhraPradesh #ElectionCommission #YSRCP— Maddila Gurumoorthy (@GuruMYSRCP) October 23, 2026He demanded that CCTV footage, nomination records, police reports and other electronic evidence be preserved to facilitate an impartial investigation.
