YSERVER 1.7 Rust X11 Server Narrows Memory Usage Difference With X.Org Server

YSERVER continues seeing a lot of activity for this vibe coded X11 server written in the Rust programming language. YSERVER has been seeing many apps and desktops working fine on this creation crafted in large part by Claude Code and continues chipping away at more X11 features. YSERVER 1.7 is out today with the latest fixes and improvements. YSERVER has traditionally consumed more video memory than the X.Org Server. It was noted on a 4K desktop that YSERVER was typically churning through 2~4GB of vRAM while X.Org was only consuming around 0.9GB in a similar setup. With YSERVER 1.7, it's down to around 1.2GB. The big difference comes from no longer holding vRAM on windows that aren't currently visible. Hidden windows will no longer keep their vRAM with YSERVER 1.7 as well as fixing some GLX memory leaks and similar improvements. YSERVER with CDE and motif apps also now start as fast as on X.Org thanks to caching font look-ups and other improvements. YSERVER 1.7 also brings Vulkan correctness fixes, support for 16MB X11 BIG-REQUESTS to match the X.Org Server, and other fixes. Those curious can learn more about YSERVER 1.7 at GitHub.
