Infamous 2 Popularity Surges As Players Rush To Unlock Its Platinum Before It's Too Late Sucker Punch Published Aug 25, 2026, 7:53 AM EDT Josh Coulson is an editor at TheGamer covering breaking news on everything from colorful platformers to the latest Lego sets. Primarily a news writer since 2018, Josh has covered just about every major game from the past decade. Sign in to your TheGamer account PlayStation announced plans to end online support for Infamous and Infamous 2 last month. That wouldn’t typically be an issue for a single-player game, except that the end of that support means Infamous 2’s user-generated content will become inaccessible, which, in turn, means a trophy you need to 100% the game and obtain its platinum will become inaccessible along with it. Infamous 2's Soon-To-Be Unobtainable Platinum The offending trophy is the UGC Veteran bronze trophy. To unlock it, you need to play 25 UGC missions. You’ll need to hurry up if you haven’t popped that trophy already, though, as we are now only one week away from the date on which PlayStation will end support for the game. There has been no update on whether accommodations will be made as it prepares to make the platinum unobtainable forever. Support for Infamous 2 will end on August 31, 2026. After that date, the sequel will be an entirely offline game. None of its UGC will be available, and the bronze trophy, and therefore the platinum, will be forever beyond your grasp. The game will remain playable; this isn’t one of those increasingly more common instances of a game being ripped from your library entirely, but this is still a problem that’s yet to be addressed. PlayStation Is Unlikely To Provide A Fix It’s somewhat surprising that it hasn’t been addressed considering just how popular Infamous 2 has become since the end of support announcement was made. PSNProfiles provides a vague idea of which PlayStation games are more popular than others at any given time based on trophy unlocks. Infamous 2 has basically been in its top ten since the support message was relayed by PlayStation. As the doomsday clock on its platinum ticks ever closer to zero, its placement on the PSNProfiles charts continues to rise. After sitting on the cusp of the site’s top ten for weeks, the Sucker Punch sequel has now risen to sixth. It’s the only non-PS5 game inside the top 20, and you have to scroll all the way down to Red Dead Redemption 2 in 30th to find the first PS4 game on the list. With seven days to go, it seems less likely than ever that Sucker Punch or PlayStation are going to address this. There were hopes that the trophy would auto-pop for everyone who doesn’t have it, or that it would simply be removed from the list of trophies you need to unlock the Infamous 2 platinum. As it stands, neither of those fixes will be implemented. If you don’t unlock the UGC trophy by August 31, whether it be because you had no idea about support ending or you didn’t start playing Infamous 2 until after that date, as it stands, there is no way to unlock its platinum trophy.
