| Games News Writer Published November 6, 2026 1:12pm Updated November 6, 2026 1:12pm A new era for Bond (IO Interactive) IO Interactive has made the opening of 007 First Light free for everyone, as the game gets heavily discounted across PS5, Xbox and PC. In a year of great surprises, between Pragmata and Star Wars: Galactic Racer, one of the year’s best is 007 First Light. The James Bond game was highly anticipated, with Hitman developer IO Interactive at the helm, but it turned out even better than people expected, between its excellent performances, great set pieces, and well paced gameplay. If you’ve been on the fence about it, you now have no excuse thanks to the 007 First Light Free Starter Pack, which lets anyone play the opening level for free. IO Interactive announced the starter pack on Thursday (November 5), which lets you play the first mission set in Iceland. It’s available now across Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam, and it will be released on PlayStation 5 from Tuesday, November 10, 2026. It’s unclear why the PlayStation version is delayed, but if you’re on Sony’s console and have a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, you can play a one-hour free trial of the game right now (which would basically encompass the first mission, if not more). To coincide with this starter pack, 007 First Light is also discounted across all platforms. At the moment, you can buy the deluxe edition digitally for £34.99 on the PlayStation Store, which is 50% off. Meanwhile, on Steam it is 40% off at £41.99, and 40% off on Xbox at the same price. The game is discounted on PlayStation as part of a wider Black Friday sale, which also features deals on Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall, and Marvel’s Wolverine. 007 First Light sold four million copies within three months of launch, and it’s set to be released on Nintendo Switch 2 on March 18, 2027. While a sequel hasn’t been officially announced, the closing credits includes the famous ‘James Bond will return’ phrase, used in most of the movies, which suggests plans are underway.
