Fortunately, Espressif has just given us a new reason to celebrate by releasing developer boards for the ESP32-S31. This new board comes with some new features and some upgraded tools, and it's at a very respectable price. The ESP32-S31 comes with some nice features for $22.89 It's a good price for what you get Credit: Espressif Over on the Espressif website, the company has announced the general release of the ESP32-S31 development board. The new microcontroller contains some nice hardware, both for communicating with other devices and for user input: ESP32-S31 integrates Wi-Fi 6 (2.4 GHz), Bluetooth 5.4 (including LE Audio and Classic BR/EDR), IEEE 802.15.4 (Zigbee and Thread), and a Gigabit Ethernet MAC. It also supports Matter over both Wi-Fi and Thread. To support rich human-machine interaction, ESP32-S31 provides interfaces for DVP cameras, multiple LCD display types, and up to 14 capacitive touch channels. The ESP32-S31 also features a JPEG encoder and decoder alongside a 2D graphics accelerator to make churning through media a lot faster. To round things off, it features dual I2S controllers for Bluetooth audio sync. And, as you might expect, it supports the ESP-IDF development framework, meaning it can play nicely with Espressif's range of hardware.
