Yoga can support women's reproductive health, particularly when combined with a balanced diet, regular exercise and stress management. Speaking at the India Today HealthWealth Summit, Yoga Acharya Ira Trivedi, founder of Yoga Love, discussed how the practice can help women manage health concerns ranging from PMOS to pregnancy. Trivedi shared that she continued practising yoga during her pregnancy, which helped her deal with physical and mental challenges. She also emphasised that yoga is beneficial for everyone, irrespective of gender. PMOS involves hormonal imbalances that can cause irregular periods and ovulation-related difficulties. Prolonged stress can further affect physical and reproductive health. According to her, yoga can help reduce stress, improve sleep and support insulin sensitivity and metabolic health, which are important for women with PMOS. However, yoga is not a cure for PMOS or a guaranteed solution to infertility. Women experiencing fertility problems should seek medical advice and treatment when necessary. Trivedi's discussion also addressed exercising during pregnancy. While many women worry that physical activity could harm their babies, gentle yoga can be practised during an uncomplicated pregnancy with a doctor's approval. It may help reduce stress, fatigue and anxiety while improving sleep and flexibility, supporting women's physical and mental wellbeing during pregnancy.
