The successful launch of Isro's GSLV-F17 carrying EOS-05 drew praise from leaders across the political spectrum on Friday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union minister Jitendra Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra congratulating the space agency's scientists and engineers.The GSLV-F17 lifted off from the Second Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 2:55 am IST on September 4.The rocket successfully placed the 2,367-kg EOS-05 into a Sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit. Its position will allow it to repeatedly observe a large region, strengthening India's Earth-observation capabilities.
