For her latest, an Aug. 9 block party for sci-fi survival film The End of Oak Street, the Oscar winner wore Atelier Prabal Gurung, pairing a custom belly-baring sculptural halterneck with low-rise jeans. And even on the days the 43-year-old makes a perceived misstep, details of her so-called incompetence truly do interest fans. Responding to the fashion outlets who noted she wore her cherry red Ashlyn New York jumpsuit backwards while out in New York City June 30, she posted a July 1 Instagram video acknowledging, "I did? I did...I did." As the mom to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6, most days Hathaway has to gird her loins for whatever they might throw at her. Like, literally throw at her. "You have to be able to play pickup basketball at any point, in any outfit," she shared with People in April of her style musts. "So [I tell myself]: When you get dressed in the morning, dress wisely because you 100 percent are going to have a projectile thrown at you probably by the end of breakfast."
