X-Men Just Served Up Cyclops' Most Epic Quote of All Time

From pulling off incredible feats with his optic blasts, to showing his exceptional leadership skills in the field, Scott Summers has repeatedly proven why he’s one of the most respected X-Men characters. On top of all that, the X-Men comic book has now delivered Cyclops’ most badass quote of all time after all this time. Written by Jed Mackay, and illustrated by Netho Diaz, X-Men #36 sees Cyclops besting Joseph, the clone of Magneto. While the original Master of Magnetism has been working with Scott’s Alaska-based team since the "From the Ashes" era began, Joseph is now affiliated with the terrorist organization 3K, hence why he and Scott face off against each other during this issue. However, the latter quickly defeated the former, and when Joseph claims that his side had “already won” the war they were waging, Scott responds, “Not from where I’m standing, which is on your neck.” Marvel Comics Between this and telling Joseph that he’s “trained my whole life to fight Magneto,” Cyclops overflows with coolness in X-Men #36. Unfortunately for him, Joseph is teleported away moments later, saying that their fight was merely a distraction for 3K’s primary objective. Scott’s perplexed by what Joseph meant by “distraction,” but at least X-Men #36 delivered another Iconic Cyclops moment for fans to appreciate. Meanwhile, 3K’s Chairman, a.k.a. the original Hank McCoy/Beast, attempts to recruit the original Magneto to their cause, as his blood holds the key to the X-Virus. Since this infectious agent has also severely diminished Magneto’s powers, Hank proposes they work together so that he can control the X-Virus, and Magneto can have his powers fully restored. However, since Magneto is aware of the devastation the X-Virus will wreak on humanity, he refuses Hank’s offer. The events of X-Men #36 serve as a prologue to the crossover event DNX, which launches next month. The five-issue limited series sees the X-Men and Fantastic Four teaming up against Beast and 3K, as they prepare to unleash the X-Virus, which will forcibly transform humans into mutants. Both Cyclops and Beast witnessed the Age of Revelation’s dark future, and while Beast wants to usher it in with him pulling the strings, Cyclops seeks to prevent it at all costs. Along with Cyclops’ comic book exploits for the rest of the year, this December will also see James Marsden reprising the character in the upcoming Marvel movie Avengers: Doomsday. This time around, Marsden’s Scott is wearing a blue and yellow uniform heavily inspired by the Jim Lee-designed uniform his printed page counterpart wore in the X-Men comics from the 1990s. It was also announced at D23 that Kit Connor will play Cyclops in the MCU’s X-Men reboot, which hits theaters on May 5, 2028. X-Men #36 is now available to purchase from Marvel Comics.
