The invitation-only celebration recognizes the songwriters and publishers of the past year’s most-performed ASCAP country and Christian songs. Previous recipients of the ASCAP Golden Note Award, which celebrates extraordinary career milestones achieved by songwriters, composers and artists, include Garth Brooks, Tom Petty, LeAnn Rimes, Lee Ann Womack, Reba, Alan Jackson and Don Williams. Related “Wynonna’s legendary career is defined by a singular, powerhouse voice and a rich body of work that has permanently shaped the landscape of American music,” Paul Williams, ASCAP chairman of the board/president, said in a statement. “As we honor her with the ASCAP Golden Note Award, we celebrate a true trailblazer whose soulful, unmistakable sound continues to inspire generations of music creators.” The Judds — in which Wynonna teamed with her late mother Naomi — received nine CMA Awards: the Horizon Award in 1984, single of the year for “Why Not Me” in 1985 and seven consecutive awards for vocal group (later, duo) of the year, from 1985-91. The Judds amassed 14 No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and four No. 1s on Top Country Albums. As a solo artist, Wynonna has also logged multiple No. 1 hits on both of those charts, including four singles and three albums. The Judds were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in April 2022. In a heartbreaking turn of events, Naomi Judd took her own life the day before the induction ceremony. Last month, Wynonna released her ninth solo studio album, The Hard Truth, via ANTI- Records. The 10-track project marked her first time co-writing an album. Wynonna is currently on the road on The Hard Truth tour, a 33-date tour across North America. Daily newsletters straight to your inbox Sign Up More From Pro
