Shnaider, of Russia, had a 4-0 lead in the second set before Fernandez won seven of the final eight games to send the match to a deciding third set before winning in two hours, 18 minutes. It was the sixth tour tournament championship for Shnaider and her first of the season. Shnaider, 22, has won six consecutive finals after losing her first career championship at the Ningbo Open in China in 2023. Guangzhou Open Harriet Dart rallied from a set back to win her first WTA Tour singles title, defeating Lilli Tagger of Austria 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in China. Dart, ranked No. 115 in the world, lost serve on the first game of the match but regained the break point to tie the first set at 4-4. Tagger, who won four of eight break chances, then broke Dart's serve to go up 5-4 and then take the set. The second set stayed on serve until Dart, a 30-year-old Brit, broke the gridlock with a break to go up 5-3 and then serve for the match, which lasted two hours, 16 minutes. --Field Level Media
