Wrexham rip up former England star Conor Coady’s contract after playing just six games for club

WREXHAM have parted ways with former England star Conor Coady after just SIX appearances for the club. The Championship side confirmed the defender has left the Racecourse Ground by mutual consent just over a year after he joined. Coady, 33, joined Phil Parkinson’s side from Leicester last August in a deal worth around £2million. He signed a two-year contract, with Wrexham holding the option of extending it by another 12 months. But the move did not work out, with Coady making just five Championship appearances and one in the League Cup. The centre-back started Wrexham’s first five league games last season before dropping out of Parkinson’s side. His final appearance came in the 2-1 League Cup defeat to Cardiff in October. Coady was then sent on loan to Charlton in January in search of more game time. But after returning to Wrexham this summer, Coady did not make one matchday squad this season. The defender, who is now a free agent, won ten England caps and was part of Gareth Southgate’s squads for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup. Coady is best known for his eight-year spell at Wolves. At the West Midlands outfit, he made more than 300 appearances and captained them into the Premier League before later playing for Everton and Leicester. Comment now
