World’s highest-energy military 6T battery with 4,400 Wh capacity enters production

Smart battery maker Epsilor has started full production of a new 6T lithium-ion battery that packs 4,400 watt-hours of energy, aiming to keep military vehicles and battlefield systems running longer without relying as heavily on fuel. The COMBATT ELI-52526-GM 6T provides 174 Ah of capacity and complies with the MIL-PRF-32565C military battery specification and NATO standards. The 6T designation identifies its standardized military form factor, while the 174 Ah rating indicates the amount of electrical charge the battery can deliver. Epsilor says its 4,400 Wh energy capacity is the highest in its category. The battery is designed for military vehicles, deployable tactical power systems, mobile command posts, tactical shelters and deployable weapon systems. Its higher energy storage allows platforms to power onboard equipment for longer, including when their engines are switched off. This is particularly useful during “silent watch” missions, when vehicles need to run communications equipment, sensors and other electronics without running their engines. Epsilor says the battery can also reduce fuel consumption, maintenance requirements and overall vehicle lifecycle costs. More energy, longer missions The ruggedized battery is built for harsh military environments and modern hybrid vehicle architectures. It can support high-power payloads, electronic warfare systems, sensors and communications equipment. Military vehicles are carrying an increasing number of power-hungry electronic systems, putting greater demands on their onboard power supplies. More energy storage gives operators additional time to run these systems without starting the engine. “Our goal was to redefine what users can expect from their 6T battery on the battlefield,” said Ronen Badichi, General Manager & CEO of Epsilor Electric Fuel. “Growing demand among our defense customers for higher energy 6T batteries pushed us to expedite production and we are proud to introduce this product ahead of schedule.” Power for battlefield electronics The COMBATT 6T will be displayed at the International Defence Industry Exhibition, or MSPO, in Kielce, Poland, from September 8 to 11. Epsilor will showcase the battery alongside its wider range of military batteries and chargers. The 4,400 Wh rating is significant because it represents the amount of energy the battery can store. In the standardized 6T footprint, Epsilor says that gives the battery the highest energy capacity in its category without changing the form factor. For hybrid military vehicles, that stored energy can be used to run onboard systems while the engine remains off. This can extend silent operation while reducing unnecessary engine use and the fuel and maintenance demands that come with it. The same capability can benefit vehicles carrying electronic warfare equipment, surveillance sensors and communications systems. As military platforms become more dependent on electronics, having enough onboard electrical power is becoming increasingly important. The COMBATT 6T is part of Epsilor’s broader portfolio of smart lithium-ion batteries and charging systems developed for defense and other demanding applications. The company says the ELI-52526-GM 6T has now entered full production, bringing its higher-capacity 6T battery from development into active manufacturing.
