World’s biggest dog festival is taking over iconic English lido this weekend with 16,000 pups

THE world’s biggest dog swim event is set to kick off in the UK in just two days’ time – and will bring four weekends of four-legged fun. This year marks the event’s 10-year anniversary. Set across four weekends starting from September 12 and 13 until October 3 and 4, pets will be able to run, splash, and swim to their hearts’ delight at the iconic Art Deco location. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! Drawing in more than 16,000 dogs last year, the Lido’s heated 40m pool will host four 90-minute sessions and one quiet session each day. All sessions are open to any breed of dog, however there are a number of Small Dogs and Large Dogs sessions running throughout the day if your pet prefers to be among similar-sized companions. Owners will be able to swim alongside their pups, or can choose to simply let their pooch do all the work with the purchase of a spectator ticket. Able to accommodate 500 bathers at one time, the event will also feature a number of stalls filled with goodies to treat your canine companion. This year also marks its 10-year anniversary, with last year’s festival proving to be a sell-out event. Created in partnership with pet insurance Petgevity, the annual occasion helps promote swimming as an effective, non-weight bearing exercise for dogs. Tickets can be purchased online via the Saltdean Lido website, which are priced at £14.85 for a Dog Swim and Human Swim ticket, and £6.40 for a Spectator pass. Comment now
