ARGENTINA and Spain’s World Cup final preparations were disrupted yet again – as thunderstorms caused havoc and delayed training. Reigning champions Argentina were due to take to the field at the Red Bulls Performance Center in Morristown, New Jersey at 11.30am local time (4.30pm UK). SunSport understands, as with matches, that teams cannot train until 30 minutes after the last lightning strike. Argentina’s training base for the build-up to the final is approximately 20 miles from the MetLife Stadium. Thankfully, though, the forecast for East Rutherford tomorrow looks good with sunny spells, the smoke clearing and just a one per cent chance of rain. Kick-off is at 3pm local time – 8pm in the UK. Spain suffered the same fate on Saturday, but their training was outright cancelled after an initial delay. And the manager claimed to the media the team had to cut short their training session on Friday to attend the pre-match press conference. Scaloni said on Friday: “We didn’t have that much time to train because we arrived at 11pm on Thursday night. “We had to cut the training session short because we had to come here for the press conference. “So, tomorrow’s training session will be important to talk to them and see how they are feeling, but in theory, everyone is fit.” Argentina did eventually manage to train, but Spain did not Credit: AFP A flood watch warning is in place for Morristown amid the heavy rainfall.
