A joint team from the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank interacting with the APCRDA authorities in Amaravati on Wednesday. | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement A joint team from the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Wednesday (August 5, 2026) concluded its three-day visit to Amaravati after holding detailed review meetings with senior officials of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) at its headquarters in Rayapudi.On the final day of the visit, the delegation met APCRDA Additional Commissioner G. Suryasai Praveen Chand, along with senior officials from the Social Development and Strategy wings. The discussions focused on implementation of social and environmental safeguards being adopted as part of the Amaravati capital city development project.The visiting team reviewed measures aimed at ensuring sustainable and inclusive urban development, while examining the progress made on key environmental and social measures within the capital region. Officials also exchanged views on strengthening project implementation through internationally accepted standards and best practices.The meetings further assessed the present status of the Preliminary Project Report (PPR) for the Amaravati capital city development project. The World Bank and ADB representatives reviewed various components of the report and discussed related technical and planning aspects with APCRDA officials.The three-day visit formed part of the multilateral agencies’ ongoing engagement with the Andhra Pradesh government to monitor project preparedness, evaluate implementation progress, and provide technical inputs for the planned development of Amaravati as the State’s capital city.
