Won't fall in love this time: Gullu on doing third reality show with Bigg Boss 20

Reality television contestant Kushal Tanwar, also known as Gullu, says he is entering Bigg Boss 20 on his own terms and not as part of a journey that mirrors anyone else’s. Having already won Roadies XX: Double Cross and then Splitsvilla X6 with Kaira Anu, Gullu said one thing is certain this time: he does not want to fall in love on the show.Before entering the house, Gullu told India Today that while comparisons with Prince Narula were inevitable because of their similar reality show trajectory, he saw Bigg Boss 20 as a chance to build his own identity. He also said the format would allow viewers to see more of his personality beyond the competitive side seen in his earlier shows.Gullu said he did not see his move from Roadies and Splitsvilla to Bigg Boss as following in someone else’s footsteps. “It’s not like I am following someone’s footsteps. It’s my own journey, and I live my own journey. If someone does something first, it does not mean I am following someone’s footsteps. I am here to pave my own path,” he told India Today in an exclusive chat before entering the show.A different side on Bigg BossAccording to Gullu, the biggest difference with Bigg Boss is the extent to which contestants are watched. He said that unlike Roadies and Splitsvilla, where cameras followed contestants for limited hours during tasks and challenges, Bigg Boss would show a fuller picture of who he is. “In all the other reality shows, the cameras were with us for eight hours. For the remaining 18 hours, you don’t know what Gullu does or doesn’t. So, you’ll get to see that new thing,” he explained. He added that this constant access could help viewers see more than just his competitive side. Gullu said he did not believe fights, arguments and swearing were the only ways to remain relevant inside the house. “People think that only fighting, arguing, and swearing will win the show or the content. That’s not how I am. I like having fun more than fighting. I don’t irritate anyone, but I like creating a light vibe around me, so you will see me teasing around,” he said.Gullu also said he was mindful of the kind of audience that watches Bigg Boss and felt unnecessary abuse did not appeal to viewers at home. “The audiences watching the show at home don’t want to hear abuses. And this is not just a Gen Z show; we have families watching the show closely,” he added. Despite this being his third major reality show, Gullu said he had not watched every season of Bigg Boss. Even so, he said he had seen enough to understand that each contestant eventually makes a mark in their own way. “I haven’t seen all the previous seasons. I have only seen a couple of them, where I saw people being really real. I feel it’s a show for everyone; each of them has created their own mark. I will also create my own identity through this platform and show people who Gullu is.”Speaking about Weekend Ka Vaar, Gullu said he was prepared to be pulled up by Salman Khan if needed and would take that feedback seriously. “If Salman bhai scolds me, it’s fine. I’ll apologise and move on. If I make a mistake during the weekend, he’ll scold me again. I really do feel that I may get scolded quite often. But I want to work on myself, and his feedback will definitely help,” the Bigg Boss 20 contestant said.No romance this timeGullu said he was especially clear about one aspect of his time on the show. After finding love, or at least a strong romantic connection, during Splitsvilla, he did not want that chapter repeated in Bigg Boss. “One thing I will never do on this show is that I don’t want to fall in love this time.
