Officers in high-vis cordoned off the scene on Wolgon Road at Oallen, just over an hour’s drive north-east of the Australian capital Canberra. They were forced to hold umbrellas over their equipment as rain made it difficult to photograph the scene. A NSW police spokesperson said: “The body is yet to be formally identified; however, it is believed to be female.” It may have been left at the site for quite some time. The discovery comes as the case of a Brit woman who was found stuffed in a suitcase in Athens has made global headlines. Scottish aid worker Elisabeth Ross, 38, was found dumped in a derelict building near the city centre on July 18. Most read in The Sun After her body was identified 11 days later, cops zeroed in on Afghan boxer Sharif Ahmadzai, 26, who has since been charged with her murder. Ahmadzai’s US-born wife Alaina Hall allegedly reported her husband to cops after she became suspicious he was involved in Elisabeth’s death. The couple had met the Afghan through their shared charity work and developed a friendship. On July 15, Alaina says she saw a text message sent from Elisabeth, known as Lisa, to him which read: “Thank you for your intention to come with me.” Later that night, Alaina claimed in her testimony that she woke up and found her husband had left their home without any warning. She said: “I checked his location on my cell phone. I saw that he was inside [Lisa’s rental] apartment on Rethymno Street. “I was surprised because there was no particular reason for him to be there at that time.” Later that night, Alaina claimed in her testimony that she woke up and found her husband had left their home without any warning. Elisabeth’s devastated family paid tribute to her on Thursday – describing her as “kind, principled and selfless”. They said: “Her integrity was absolute, and she dedicated her life to helping others in need. “We are in deep pain, and we ask for time and privacy as we come to terms with our loss.”
