Woman who died at popular Kakadu site confirmed to be overseas tourist

Police investigating the death of a woman at a popular rock art attraction in Kakadu National Park have confirmed she was a tourist visiting from overseas.In a statement released this morning, Northern Territory Police confirmed the woman in her 30s died on Wednesday on the western side of Ubirr Lookout.A police spokesperson has since confirmed the woman was an international tourist, though did not say which country she was from. "At this time, there is no suspicious circumstances and a report will be prepared for the coroner," a police spokesperson said. The site has been closed to the public.The Ubirr Lookout site has been closed to the public as police investigate. (ABC News: Michael Donnelly)The Ubirr rock formation is one of Kakadu's two most famous Aboriginal rock art galleries, with the major tourism drawcard hosting some of the world's most outstanding rock art.The site featured prominently in the 1986 classic Australian movie Crocodile Dundee.In a statement, NT Parks and Wildlife Minister Marie-Clare Boothby said it was "heartbreaking to hear about the tragic loss of life at Ubirr today"."My thoughts are with their loved ones at this difficult time," she said.
