A viral video from flood-hit Nepal captures her rushing towards them, falling once, getting back up and pulling them to safety just before the floodwaters surge through.The footage showed the woman moving quickly with her children as the flood approached. The situation changed within moments as the powerful surge of water began rushing through the area.The woman initially lost her footing and fell, but got back up almost immediately. Without letting go of her children’s hands, she continued moving them away from the incoming water. The few seconds gave the family enough time to get out of the direct path of the torrent. Watch the video:The video has since spread across social media, with viewers focusing on the mother’s instinctive response and the narrow window in which the family managed to escape. The footage also captures just how suddenly the floodwaters arrived, leaving little time for people caught in their path to react. The dramatic escape comes as Nepal continues to grapple with one of its deadliest recent flood disasters. Flash floods swept through parts of northern and central Nepal on August 26 after a suspected collapse or avalanche of ice and rock near the Nepal-Tibet border sent huge volumes of water downstream through the Bhotekoshi river system.The floods have devastated towns and villages, sweeping away homes, vehicles, roads and bridges and damaging hydropower infrastructure. As of Sunday, the death toll had crossed 700, with nearly 2,500 people still missing. More than 4,500 people have been rescued, while thousands of displaced survivors are facing shortages of clean water, medicines and other essentials. Authorities have also warned of renewed danger after water levels in the Bhotekoshi River rose again on Sunday.
