Woman Slaps Husband At Wynn Las Vegas Buffet, Gets Deported To Armenia

A woman allegedly slapped her husband at the Wynn Las Vegas buffet while arguing over a phone. It ended with police, an ambulance, and an arrest – then three months in immigration detention and then getting deported to Armenia. Prosecutors declined to pursue the domestic battery charge. But once she was in jail, she got taken by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. She eventually accepted voluntary departure from the United States. The woman, Arpine Misakyan, was visiting Vegas from Southern California. She had a pending asylum case, but ICE described her as unlawfully present. (Under our insane immigration system, both can be true at the same time.) The family was staying at Bellagio and went to Wynn for the buffet. According to the arrest report, casino surveillance captured Misakyan slapping her husband. Security had already handcuffed her when police arrived. Her husband tried to explain that they’d been partying and that a family disagreement had gotten blown out of proportion. He acknowledged the slap, telling officers: “Wife slap me because me and my wife today too much party and enjoy, okay?” “Family problems, small problems, they too much big.” Misakyan complained of high blood pressure and difficulty breathing. She left on a stretcher for a local hospital before being taken to county detention. Her husband sought her release. Nevada requires a cooling-off period following a domestic battery arrest. It also triggered the police department’s immigration notification policy, which includes domestic violence among the offenses reported to ICE at booking and release.
