Colonel Jibin Bongcayao, Cotabato City police director, said that the woman, identified only as “Mercy,” withdrew cash from a local bank and boarded a “habal-habal” on her way home when the suspects followed her. As the “habal-habal” reached Climente Alino Street in Barangay Rosary Heights 2 at 3:10 p.m., one of the suspects grabbed the victim’s sling bag that contained the money. The bullet also hit the habal-habal driver in his neck. The suspect fled toward Notre Dame Avenue, also in Barangay Rosary Heights 2, and made good their escape with their loot. The woman and the motorbike driver were rushed to Cotabato Regional and Medical Center where they are now recuperating. Police found empty shells for caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.
