But physical movement is one of those lifestyle changes experts often recommend, not just to support weight management and burn calories, but also to simply stay healthy. And you don’t necessarily need a gym membership or fancy equipment to get moving. For Sakshi Yadav, a certified yoga trainer and fat-loss coach, as per her Instagram bio, a simple home workout routine became part of her weight-loss journey. Yadav claims to have lost 25 kg in about six months, going from 80 kg to 55 kg.She is also a social media content creator who shares different parts of her weight-loss journey, including the exercises. Interestingly, her workout video mostly centres around home-based routines. In one of her Reels, Yadav shared a home workout routine for the lower body, captioning it, “Exercise to target your lower body.” Here’s the home workout routineAccording to the video, Yadav focusses on four key exercises: jumping jacks, high knees, squats, and lunges. But in between, she also adds advanced-level squats and lunges. “Going from 80 kg to 55 kg, this is a lower-body workout that I used to add to my routine. These are all bodyweight exercises. So, first are jumping jacks (30x4), followed by high knees (30x4). Then I used to do squats (25x3), and to make them more advanced, I did squat pulses (30x3), and squat jumps (20x3). After that, I did lunges (20x3) or advanced jumping lunges (15x3), and squat walks,” she said in the video.Bodyweight exercises can be a convenient way to add movement to your day because they don’t require a gym, machines or expensive equipment. Squats and lunges, for instance, can strengthen the lower body, while movements such as jumping jacks add a cardiovascular element. Regular physical activity, when combined with appropriate nutrition and other healthy habits, can support overall fat loss and long-term weight management. But here’s the thingIt is important to remember that no single exercise routine can guarantee a particular amount of weight loss. Weight management is influenced by several factors, including diet, overall activity, sleep, health conditions and individual metabolism. And when it comes to exercising, it is imperative to get the form and technique right, increase intensity depending on how much the body can take, or else it can lead to injuries. So, one may take inspiration from Yadav’s routine, but it’s not a one-size-fits-all formula. For a sustainable and healthy weight-loss journey, it’s better to consult experts from the field and tailor-make a routine that may work for an individual’s body. And well, the best workout is probably the one you can actually convince yourself to do.- Ends
