How many calories, what should you eat, which foods do you need to break up with? While starting a weight-loss journey isn’t always easy, sometimes a real-life story can be that catalyst to simply get going. And this social media content creator who goes by the handle Rao Pretty (raopretty.ig), shares about her journey to lose weight. From her exercise routine to her meal plans, she regularly offers glimpses of the changes she is making as she works towards her weight-loss goal. Her changes included avoiding packaged foods, added sugar and fried foods. Eating out remained on the calendar, but she limited it to one meal a week. Alongside these changes, she listed walking 10,000 steps daily, maintaining a calorie deficit and getting enough protein. What’s on her plate? In a separate “what I eat in a day” post, she shared her meals while following a calorie deficit. In that caption, she also reported losing 0.7 kg that week. Her morning begins with warm jeera-saunf water. She boils two cups of water with a teaspoon each of cumin and fennel seeds. According to her, it helps her with digestion, bloating and gas, hydration and provides antioxidant compounds. For breakfast, she has one moong dal chilla made with 30 g of raw moong dal. As per her weight loss maths, its approximately 105 kcal, 7 g protein, 19 g carbs, 0.5 g fat & 4 g fiber. Lunch brings a little variety: shakshuka with two slices of whole-wheat bread. Her version includes two eggs, three tomatoes, a red bell pepper and an onion. According to her post, the meal provides approximately 430 calories, 24 g of protein, 56 g of carbohydrates, 13 g of fat and 9–10 g of fibre, making it a filling mix.For her snack, she lists 350 g of papaya, five almonds, one walnut and a tablespoon of mixed seeds. The post also includes a scoop of a protein supplement. For dinner, she has soya pulao made with 40 g of raw rice, 30 g of soya chunks and 50 g of mixed vegetables, served with curd. As her post, the meal provides approximately 420 calories, 25–27 g of protein, 59 g of carbohydrates and 8–9 g of fat.The takeaway? Her posts offer a glimpse into her routine, and might as well serve as a motivation to someone reading this and begin their own journey, not a promise of identical results. The weight-loss figures are self-reported, and her portions may not suit everyone’s needs. Therefore, in the end, it is all about listening to your body, it's requirements and accordingly consulting an expert to tailor-make a journey that may benefit individuals' body. But if there’s something to borrow from such real-life journeys, it’s the dedication and consistency. Take the inspiration, skip the comparison, and find your own pace.- Ends
