Woman dies at popular festival after being found unconscious in tent as cops probe mystery passing

A WOMAN has died on the final day of a popular techno music festival. The death was reported at around 6.10pm on Sunday at the Houghton Festival in Norfolk. Police said the death is currently being treated as unexplained but it is not thought to be suspicious. The woman’s next of kin have been informed as enquiries continue. A spokesperson for Houghton Festival said: “We are deeply saddened to confirm that a person has passed away at Houghton 2026. “Our thoughts are entirely with their family and loved ones at this difficult time. “We are grateful to our onsite medical team, event response team and Norfolk Constabulary, who all responded immediately. “We continue to work closely with the relevant authorities to support in any way we can with their investigations.” Most read in The Sun The yearly festival – which kicked off last Thursday – typically draws in around 10,000 people. It has been running at the prestigious Houghton Hall estate since 2017. Founded by dance music legend Craig Richards – who owns the renowned London nightclub Fabric – attendees can enjoy music across its stages all day and night, making it the UK’s only 24-hour festival. The Princess of Wales is believed to have visited the techno rave back in 2023, while visiting friends the Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley, David and Rose, who own the Norfolk estate. She reportedly left staff at Houghton Hall a generous £700 after her stay.
