A person is dead after being hit by a train in Henderson.A police spokesperson said the death happened at the rail crossing near Sturges Road shortly before 3pm.A Hato Hone Saint John ambulance attended but a spokesperson referred RNZ to police."Sadly, I can confirm a woman was pronounced deceased at the scene," acting inspector Warwick Stainton, Auckland shift commander, said."This is understandably a terrible incident for everyone involved and we are working to notify the next of kin."Police are asking for anyone who witnessed the death to come forward.
