Woman critically injured as fire engulfs home on Sunshine Coast

A woman has been critically injured in a unit fire on the Sunshine Coast. Emergency services were called to a unit block on King Street in Buderim at about 7:30pm on Sunday after receiving multiple calls reporting the blaze. The unit was fully engulfed and it took five firefighting crews more than an hour to extinguish the flames. A 22-year-old woman escaped the home but suffered life-threatening burns to her entire body. She was taken the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a critical condition. Paramedics also assessed a woman in her 30s but she did not require treatment.The rest of the complex was evacuated while crews extinguished blaze.Police have established a crime scene and investigators will attend the unit this morning to determine the cause of the fire.
