Wolves cancel training and increase security to keep out ex-Premier League star who refuses to leave

WOLVES were forced to step up security at their training ground after an astonishing flashpoint with controversial striker Tolu Arokodare. Training had to be cancelled by new boss Cesar Peixoto when Arokodare, 25, was told he was not part of the first team group. It is understood the club have not completely banned Arokodare from their training complex following the incident on Monday. But Wolves seem likely to increase their efforts to move the player out. The club were not planning to make an official comment ahead of their friendly at Maidenhead United last night (Wednesday). But the incident is a clear indication that Peixoto – who took over from Rob Edwards last month – will not stand for a lack of discipline in his squad ahead of Wolves’ Championship campaign. Edwards is understood to have wanted to move Arokodare on at the end of last season. Wolves had accepted an offer from Turkish side Trabzonspor to take Arokodare on loan – but the Nigeria forward turned down the move. In April, Arokodare and teenage prospect Mateus Mane had a dressing bust-up following a 4-0 defeat at West Ham. At the time, it was thought his team-mates were upset at Arokodare’s behaviour and he faced disciplinary action from Wolves. The player contributed little to a season which saw Wolves relegated – scoring just three goals after making a £24million move from Genk last year. Arokodare was not part of last week’s warm weather training camp in Portugal at first. But he did get a late call-up after striker Adam Armstrong picked up an injury. Comment now
