Microsoft yesterday released WSL 3.0.2 as their latest WSL update since last week's WSL3 release with "WSLC" for promoting Linux containers on Windows to general availability. Some notable changes in WSL 3.0.2 include automatic virtual NUMA support and experimental support for sparse VHD storage. WSL 3.0.2 introduces automatic virtual NUMA support for large WSL VMs. This came following a bug report from an Intel engineer that noted WSL was failing to launch on a host with more than 256 threads. With this automatic vNUMA handling, Windows Subsystem for Linux should now work out nicely on multi-socket servers. The other notable WSL 3.0.2 is having experimental sparse virtual hard disk (VHD) creation support where disk space is only consumed for written data. WSL 3.0.2 also has a fix for IPv4 forwarding, container fixes, container health notifications are added to WSLC events, and other fixes. more details on the WSL 3.0.2 release via Microsoft's GitHub.
