Wind signals lifted as Kiyapo heads towards Southern China on Saturday

Luzon areas Article continues after this advertisement It maintained its strength with a maximum wind speed of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 150 kph. It was moving northwestward at 25 kph. Earlier, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 had been hoisted over Batanes, western portion of Babuyan Islands (Calayan Islands, Dalupiri Islands, Fuga Islands), northwestern portion of mainland Cagayan (Pamplona, Sanchez-Mira, Claveria, Santa Praxedes), and northern portion of Apayao (Luna, Calanasan), and Ilocos Norte. Pagasa noted that Kiyapo is forecast to move generally northwestward until Sunday toward southern mainland China before heading north-northwestward. “Due to favorable environmental conditions, KIYAPO will continue to strengthen in the next 12 hours, prior to its landfall,” the bureau added.
