WinBtrfs is a driver for Microsoft Windows to support reading and writing to Btrfs file-systems. WinBtrfs works with Windows XP and newer. It hadn't seen a new release in over two years but a big feature release is now available with a combination of new features and bug fixes. WinBtrfs 1.10 debuted today and now supports writing free-space bitmaps as well as writing compressed inline files: both of these features already had read support on WinBtrfs. The new WinBtrfs release also improves handling of removable devices, enhanced error recovery when out of memory or out of disk space, and a variety of different bug fixes. WinBtrfs 1.10 fixes include a possible crash when moving files between subvolumes, a crash when many files are created simultaneously such as observed with the Steam client, pre-allocation issues are now resolved, disk usage stats for multi-device volumes, and other fixes. The WinBtrfs 1.10 release announcement also notes that Claude was used in bug hunting and proved to "help greatly" for not only bug hunting but also code review. The code though for WinBtrfs 1.10 was all written without AI. In addition to Microsoft Windows proper for Btrfs support, WinBtrfs is also what's used by ReactOS for its Btrfs read/write support: Those wanting to try out WinBtrfs 1.10 can do so via GitHub.
