On August 21, The Sun exclusively revealed that Meghan Markle, 45, was in advanced talks for a role in The Gentlemen. A source said she would be getting “at least £1million” for the part, “perhaps even more”. But Royal author Tina Brown then claimed the potential deal had collapsed, posting on X: “I learned this morning the casting of Meghan in The Gentlemen has been withdrawn. This does not bode well for Meghan’s acting comeback in the UK.” Then, on August 23, an insider said that discussions were in fact continuing, with Netflix bosses keen to land the comeback even though nothing formal has been signed. It will be seen as a major coup for whoever signs her.” Talent manager Professor Jonathan Shalit, chairman of InterTalent Rights Group, told The Sun on Sunday: “It’s a great show and people love it all over the world. The source said: “They will return to California in the long term but are moving to the UK to be closer to Charles while he copes with cancer, and because Meghan has secured this secret role.” Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, are expected to start school in Britain in September. The ongoing talks about her role in The Gentlemen are understood to be one factor behind the move. Meghan has not taken a scripted role since leaving Suits in 2017.
