Will Chad Powers Return for Season 3?

2 min readIt isn’t easy being Chad Powers. Glen Powell’s character on the Hulu comedy series is a disgraced football player who disguises himself as a college quarterback just so that he can play the game he loves. He creates his own Batcave full of disguises in season 2 to transform into his bumbling and awkward alter ego—and, according to the actor, the makeup team has worked it down to about an hour before filming in real life. But how much time can the A-lister really devote to Chad Powers moving forward? If it’s up to showrunner Michael Waldron? Well, the Loki creator told The Wrap after season 2 aired that he’s hoping for one more round. And for a series created from a 2022 Eli’s Places sketch, I’d say three successful seasons would mark a major victory.“We’ve always said this is a three-season story,” Waldron said. “We would kill to make one more and finish the story, you know? It ends on a cliff-hanger. Glen is a huge star, got a ton going on. I’m doing all my stuff with Marvel and everything. This show, we will always make time for our audience and this cast.”HuluGlen Powell told Good Morning America that it takes around an hour to get into the Chad Powers makeup. At the end of season 2, Chad Powers is no longer a one-man operation. His true identity is being kept secret by multiple people in his life, and the stakes only increase the more people he makes culpable in his insane scheme. Plus, he’s developing a rather unethical relationship with his coach’s daughter—and now said coach knows about it.Hulu has yet to officially renew the series for season 3, but Chad Powers’s latest season finale all but ensured that Waldron and Powell must return to finish the story.“It’s been amazing to watch people fall in love with it,” Waldron continued. “So, hopefully this season, people like [it], because we want to bring it home. Bring it across the goal line.”
