Wildberries Hit Again: Ukrainian Drones Reach Warehouse More Than 2,000 Kilometers Inside Russia

A Wildberries warehouse in Russia’s Yekaterinburg was attacked by Ukrainian drones early Friday, Aug. 7, sparking a fire at the facility, the company’s press service said. The strike targeted a warehouse operated by the RWB joint company, which manages Wildberries’ logistics operations. No casualties were reported. According to Artem Zhoga, Russia’s presidential envoy to the Ural Federal District, around 800 people were evacuated from the site. The attack took place more than 2,000 kilometers from Ukraine’s border, marking the latest reported strike on Wildberries infrastructure deep inside Russia. Sverdlovsk Region Governor Denis Pasler announced a drone threat alert overnight but did not provide details about the reported attack or damage. Authorities also temporarily restricted flights at Yekaterinburg’s Koltsovo Airport, with restrictions lifted by morning. Ukrainian monitoring channels published footage they claimed showed the moment a drone struck the warehouse, along with images of smoke rising from the area. The reports have not been independently verified. Ukrainian drones have increasingly targeted Wildberries logistics centers in recent weeks. According to Russian outlet Agentstvo, more than 20 Wildberries warehouses have been struck since mid-July during Ukrainian long-range drone attacks. On Aug. 4, a Ukrainian drone strike set fire to one of Wildberries’ largest logistics warehouses in Russia’s Tula region, forcing the facility to suspend operations. According to Agentstvo, the Tula warehouse became the eighth of Wildberries’ 15 largest logistics hubs to go offline following Ukrainian attacks targeting the company’s infrastructure. The outlet reported that seven other major Wildberries facilities – in the Moscow region city of Elektrostal, as well as Vladimir, Krasnodar, Nevinnomyssk, Samara, Leningrad and Penza regions – have yet to resume operations after previous strikes. Agentstvo also cited the Ukrainian Telegram channel Supernova+, which reported a possible drone strike on another Wildberries warehouse in Zelenodolsk, Tatarstan, although the facility reportedly did not catch fire. Last week, Reuters reported that the Russian government was considering financial support measures for Wildberries after repeated drone attacks damaged several of its logistics centers. Proposed measures reportedly included state-backed loans, tax breaks and subsidies for the company and affected sellers. Ukrainian officials have previously said Wildberries was targeted because of its alleged role in supplying the Russian military and its financial ties to state-controlled lender VTB.
