Wild moment rampaging bison knocks down tourist as beast refuses to let terrified holidaymaker stand back up

Nature photographer Grzegorz Ryński, who filmed the harrowing attack, shouted at the tourist not to move. He then used his car to try to separate him from the furious beast. Ryński slowly edged his car towards the bison with the door left ajar so the terrified man could scramble inside. But the tourist appeared to be in shock and instead tried to flee on foot, forcing Ryński to slowly reverse alongside him until they were finally far enough away from the animal. Ryński told broadcaster TVN24: “We shouldn’t blame the bison. The man was actually very lucky because this particular animal was quite calm. There are much more aggressive individuals.” Ryński’s wife, Aneta, who also witnessed the takedown, said the tourist was left with a deep gash on his calf and badly bruised and needed hospital treatment. If a person gets too close, the animal may feel threatened and attack.” The dramatic encounter comes as another tourist was viciously attacked by a bison at Yellowstone National Park. Grandad Carl Isom-McDaniel, 65, was sent flying 8ft into the air by a one-tonne bison while visiting the park with his 13-year-old grandson on Friday night. Despite suffering a shattered femur in four places, Carl has reassured concerned followers that he is now recovering from the savage ordeal. The retiree and community leader from Kendall, Washington, also praised the beast for sparing his life during the terrifying attack. “When I was on the ground immobile, unable to move, he was right on top of me,” Carl told CNN. “He could have stomped on me, he could have gored me, he could have done almost anything to take my life, and he did not do so.” Professional photographer Mike MacLeod captured the astonishing attack and said Carl was “in good spirits” immediately afterwards. “He was in a lot of pain, but was conscious and joking the whole time,” he told Cowboy State Daily. “He was really worried and wanted to see the video to make sure it wasn’t his fault. It’s not his fault. You can tell from the very beginning. That was a really, really angry bison.” The animal had terrorised several groups of visitors before turning its attention to Carl. A group of teenage boys were forced to scatter when the bison charged at them, Mike said. The shocking attacks highlight the brutal danger posed by bison, which can weigh up to 2,000lbs. Białowieża Forest, which straddles Poland’s border with Belarus, is home to roughly 1,176 free-range European bison. Comment now
