Hiller's strongest argument for a larger role in Widow's Bay comes from Joel, his character in HBO's Somebody Somewhere. Hiller's performance in Somebody Somewhere earned him the 2025 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. The actor also showed that he can handle much darker material as Mr. Whitely in American Horror Story: NYC. The character appears across nine episodes, putting Hiller in a horror environment where his performance had to fit the show's unsettling atmosphere rather than relying solely on comedy.
