Intelligence sources told India Today that the frequency and pattern of the activity were unusual.Several sorties by Turkish Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft were observed during the three days, with the transport planes shuttling between Turkey and Pakistan.DRONES, AIR DEFENCE SYSTEM IN FOCUSThe aircraft movement has raised attention amid Pakistan's push to expand its unmanned aerial fleet and weapons stockpile. Intelligence inputs indicate that the Turkish flights may have delivered a large consignment of drones and associated systems to Pakistan. Sources also said Pakistan may have received an HQ-series air defence system along with the drone-related equipment.Among the Turkish unmanned systems supplied to Pakistan in recent years is the Bayraktar TB2, a medium-altitude, long-endurance tactical drone developed by Turkey. The Bayraktar TB2 gained international attention after being used by Ukraine against Russian armour, artillery and naval assets. The drone is regarded as one of the most capable armed UAVs in its category.PAKISTAN ACCELERATES DRONE ACQUISITIONSThe latest military aircraft movement comes as Pakistan seeks to increase its unmanned warfare capabilities rapidly.Sources said the acquisitions are being pursued under defence cooperation arrangements involving Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Turkey has emerged as one of Pakistan's key suppliers of unmanned aerial vehicles, with the Bayraktar TB2 and other tactical systems forming part of its military cooperation with Islamabad.Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir is pushing the procurement process, with the acquisitions being routed through existing bilateral defence arrangements despite Pakistan's continuing economic difficulties.The expansion reflects Pakistan's growing focus on drones, long-endurance unmanned platforms and loitering munitions as part of its broader military modernisation.TURKISH DRONES AND PAKISTAN’S WESTERN BORDERPakistan has previously used Turkish drones for surveillance and strike missions along its western border.
