Why Taylor Swift Wasn’t Filmed Dancing on the VMAs Audience Cam Per Usual

If there’s one thing we can rely upon at the VMAs, it’s a Taylor Swift audience cam moment. The “Patient Zero” singer is known for her love of dancing and supporting other artists’ performances, and cameras are almost always trained on her throughout the show. I mean, it’s tradition!But this year? Not so much. Taylor was at the VMAs all night (she debuted a music video and won the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honor), but the audience cam was not on her other than when she got up to win her awards. And apparently this is because she watched much of the show from backstage in order to keep the focus on other artists.Per The Sun, Tay didn’t head into the audience until right before her Artist Director Honor, and then returned backstage before heading to the audience again to collect Video of the Year.A source explains to the outlet that this was intentional, and that “Taylor’s team insisted she didn’t want to distract from the other artists by being in the room all night, so decided to watch much of the ceremony backstage instead.”Truly so thoughtful, though I think we can all agree that cameras cutting to Taylor only enhance the VMAs since she’s basically everyone’s #1 hype person!
