Why Olivia Rodrigo Skipped the 2026 VMAs, Despite Earning Multiple Noms

Olivia Rodrigo is nominated for multiple awards at the 2026 VMAs, but rumor has it she’ll be skipping tonight’s festivities.Olivia’s nominated for Best Album for you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, along with Song of the Summer for "Stupid Song," Best Pop for "Drop Dead," and Best Alternative for "The Cure." But it looks like she’s missing the show amid her busy tour schedule.While Olivia isn’t performing tonight, she has back-to-back shows on September 29 and September 30 in Pittsburg, so is likely enjoying her days off with some R&R.Olivia last won a VMA in 2023 (Best Editing for “Vampire”), and took home Song of the Year, Best New Artist, and Push Performance of the Year for "Drivers License" back in 2021. In her Best New Artist speech, she thanked her fellow nominees including The Kid Laroi, saying “This is so crazy. Well, thank you to the fans again and everyone who has supported me, this is just so awesome. I want to thank Laroi also, who inspires me every day to be a better artist. I love him so much. I just feel so grateful that I get to write music and make stuff that I love and call it my job, so thank you guys again for letting me do that.”Watch below!
