Why nuclear power is exciting investors

The artificial intelligence revolution is eroding public opposition to nuclear power. Data centers are at the heart of the AI Revolution, and these AI factories consume vast amounts of energy. Driven by the convergence of soaring electricity demand, the public’s continued support for a clean environment, and the national imperative for energy abundance, America is returning to nuclear power.Perhaps surprisingly, public opinion is also beginning to shift in favor of nuclear power.Gallup’s polling data clearly show that the public now supports the expansion of nuclear energy. Ten years ago, only 44% of Americans had a positive opinion of nuclear energy. In 2025, however, 61% of those polled said they supported nuclear power. Moreover, in the 2025 survey, only 35% of Americans expressed opposition to nuclear energy. The major catalyst for this resurgence in support is the explosive growth of AI and cloud computing. Today’s data centers require massive, uninterrupted electricity supplies to build and run AI models. Data centers run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the AI complex cannot operate without constant power. Wind and solar are not 24/7 power sources. In stark contrast, nuclear power can provide continuous, 24/7 baseload power. In Congress and the White House, there is a bipartisan consensus on nuclear power. President Donald Trump is actively promoting it, and initiatives are underway to lower construction costs and shorten lead times for nuclear power plants. In addition, nuclear power is now viewed as an essential part of the national consensus for energy abundance, supporting both national prosperity and national security. It has become a foundational element of the nation’s energy future.Coincidentally, Wall Street is preparing to launch the initial public offering of Westinghouse, a major global nuclear energy company that designs, builds, and services commercial nuclear power plants. The company also supplies nuclear fuel. Arguably, the Westinghouse IPO represents a compelling investment opportunity. Today, Westinghouse management and its two corporate owners are targeting a public valuation of about $50 billion. This extraordinary increase in economic value illustrates the optimism financial institutions hold for the future of nuclear power.Westinghouse enjoys strong government support and is in a financial partnership with the government to finance at least $80 billion worth of new Westinghouse nuclear reactors to be built in the U.S. As part of this partnership, Westinghouse has a conditional commitment from the federal government for a $17.5 billion loan facility. Westinghouse technology already supports 57% of the world’s nuclear reactors, and the company has identified a pipeline of up to 91 global opportunities for its most advanced reactor technology across both domestic and international markets.WATCHDOG URGES DHS TO REVIEW MICROSOFT CONTRACTSThe planned IPO is scheduled to launch next month. It will probably be very difficult for private investors to obtain shares in the public offering, but interested investors should consider buying shares today in either Brookfield Renewable Partners or Cameco, the two companies that currently offer publicly traded stocks.Investing in stocks always involves risk.
