Why Harry Styles Skipped the 2026 VMAs Despite Being Nominated

Looks like Harry Styles is passing on the 2026 VMAs—despite being nominated in multiple categories. But to be fair: he’s busy! Harry’s in the middle of his residency at Madison Square Garden, and while he technically has tonight (Sunday, September 27) off, he’s gearing up for a show on September 30.While Harry hasn’t released a statement about why he opted out of the VMAs, chances are he wants to enjoy his days off between shows and get some rest before hitting the stage at MSG again in just a few nights.Meanwhile, though Harry was nominated for two VMAs (Best Choreography for “Dance No More” and Best Dance for “Aperture”), he didn’t get nom’d in any of the most major categories like Video of the Year or Artist of the Year this time around.The last time Harry won a VMA was in 2022, when he took home Album of the Year for Harry’s House, as well as Best Pop and Best Cinematography for “As It Was.” He wasn’t able to be there that night either (due to performing at Madison Square Garden), but sent a sweet pre-recorded video message to fans thanking them for the support.
